History was made in Central Florida during Women's History Month, when the inaugural Big & Beautiful Pageant was held on Sunday, March 25, 2007. This event was the first pageant of its kind in Central Florida and it will honored the total dimensions of womanhood and empowerment.
Our vision is to empower women to live life to its fullest regardless of their dress-size or nationality. Health, wellness and empowerment were encouraged through a sense of inclusion in the world of fashion, beauty and plus size modeling. This event gave a voice to women often left out of the mainstream of fashion and beauty and not only showcased them on stage, but world wide to the viewers of the Urban Internet Television Network.
The mission is simply: To celebrate the unique diversity of the total woman…curves and all! In doing so the pageant is a platform for women, sized 16 and up, from every cultural and ethnic background. This purposeful partnership between women, cultures and the community will celebrate curvaceous women who not only embody excellence within fashion and confidence but also in their community, service and leadership. Ms. Big and Beautiful 2008 will no doubt be a woman of excellence in character, community presence and leadership as well as inner and outer beauty, just like our first Queen Chanawana Owens was! Ms. Big and Beautiful 2008 could be your sister, your friend, your co-worker, your neighbor…she could be you!
